Meet Muffin

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

This here is Muffin. Muffin came into my life when I was eleven years old. It all started when I was at a cross-country meet for my brother. I noticed a lady with a teeny-tiny dog in her hand. The puppy was soooo cute and I wanted one so bad. I got all the information from the lady of what kind of dog and who I could contact to get one as well. I then begged my parents for a "Yorkie Poo." Within a few weeks, my dad came into the kitchen and urged me to go into the garage outside. He told me he had gotten a new motorcycle and wanted me to see it. (This was always code for a new dog). I got really excited and ran down the hallway. I found a box with Muffin in it. She fit in the palm of my hand and her head was bigger than her body. She was the cutest thing I had ever seen. That night I slept with a box right by my side with Muffin in it.

When I came to college, my parents kept Muffin at home with them. It had been four years since I had lived with her and my parents allowed her to come live with Kyle and I. We have had so much fun with her! We go on walks with her, play with her and cuddle with her. We truly enjoy having her in our home with us. She brings so much joy to all of those she is around.

Muffin is a very tender soul and she is a part of our family. Anywhere we go she goes. Muffin captures the hearts of all she comes in contact. She gets excited when she sees anyone because she wants you to scratch her belly and give you kisses.

Muffin has a love for food (especially chicken), gnawing on chicken chew sticks, sunbathing in the sun, and sleeping. She loves to play with her toys and loves to sleep under a nice warm blanket. She is very smart and can perform multiple tricks like sit, laydown, dance, shake, playdead and give a hug.

Muffin has her own language and I've learned it over the years. If she wants something she will look at you then look at the object she wants (usually food). If she wants you to scratch her she will scratch your hand and burry her head towards your hand until you scratch her. If she wants up on the couch she will get up on her hind legs and scratch until you pick her up. And if your sleeping and she wants food she will sit there and stare at you with occasionally little whines. If you are sitting by her and she starts to scratch your side she wants you to put a blanket over her. : )

Muffin is a sweetie and we are truly so blessed to have her in our life. I thank the Lord for her everyday.

So there you have it. You've met my dog, Muffin. : )
